Hi everyone, this is a video I actually made a very very long time ago, but put off posting on Youtube, and then today thought maybe people would like to see it here too. Trans people have been discriminated against on dating apps since dating apps started as a concept, and you would hope that throughout the years there would be some improvement mitigating this but unsurprisingly, this has not been the case. If you’re too lazy to watch the full video, the crux of the issue is that the reporting system on Tinder works so that if your account is reported an unspecific number of times (let’s just say it’s 7 for simplicity's sake), then immediately after that 7th report, your account is banned automatically forever. This makes it very easy to target and harass trans people as often *ssholes will report them for no reason other than being trans. I also in the latter part of the video go into how the app itself perpetuates something that I call algorithmic cisnormativity. Now if you wanna learn about that you’ll actually have to watch the video, but see you next time!
Also just a heads up, I know my first post is a video but I’ll more often post written content just explaining different things I’ve been investigating. Okay if you’ve read this far you deserve 3 gummy worms tomorrow thank you have a great day.
